I know its July, but it’s never too early to start thinking about winter travel! I’m already thinking about my potential winter travel plans. Booking this far in advance for winter travel allows you to get some of the best deals on flights as well as save enough cash for spending money once you are at your desired destination. So, if you want to get ahead too, check out my recommendations for some awesome winter destinations in 2016-2017.
Whistler, Canada
If snow and skiing are your thing, why not visit the picturesque Whistler in Canada? Located in the Rockies, the is ones of Canada’s most popular winter sports venues. There is a good average snow fall, which means you won’t get stranded in the bar rather than being out on the slopes (unless you want to). There are also lots of runs for all experience levels, with the majority being at the intermediate level.
Greenland
The island of Greenland is an independent country. Populated mostly at the coasts, along the stunning Fjords, Greenland is pretty cold throughout the year. So don’t forget to pack your best fashion winter wear. Time for fluffy headbands and earmuffs! It’s a particularly good spot to visit during the winter for those of you hunting the Aurora Borealis. This is because unlike many of the countries in the Auroral Oval, in Greenland you can see the Northern Lights from anywhere as long as it’s a dark and clear night.
Disneyland Paris
For those of you wanting to combine some festive entertainment and seriously cultural experiences, heading to Paris is a great option. Soak up the atmosphere in the city by visiting the Musee de Ore, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower. Then make the short train ride to Disneyland for Christmas themed fun, fireworks and parades.
Switzerland
Switzerland is beautiful in both the summer and winter. In the winter, however, it is more popular because of good snow fall and its well-known ski resorts. Switzerland has plenty of slopes, chair lifts and cog railways to get you up to the peaks. Then all you have to do is worry about coming down again! Make sure you try Switzerland’s famous dairy products like Raclette and Fondue while there, I was obsessed when I visited.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
For those people that are looking for some winter sun, Brazil is one of the best places to get it! Temperatures average in the high 70s and 80s in December. Do some sightseeing in Brazil and visit the famous Christ The Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro. Or enjoy some serious relaxation on the white sands of the Ipanema and Copacabana beaches.
If you can wait a little longer, you could always go for Carnival, which runs February 24 to March 1, in 2017. Take in the floats, dancers and spectacular parades. But do book your accommodation early and be prepared for it to be both busy and HOT during this peak time!
Happy traveling! XOXO
