Red Beach is my favorite beach of all of the varied (white, black and red) sand beaches in Santorini, a Greek island. The beach is a trek down the hill, but definitely worth it. If you have a fear of heights, however, have no fear because there are a number of boats that can take you to the beach by ocean instead. The water on the beach is an unusual turquoise blue and the sand is literally a deep red, caused by volcanic rock. The beach is more isolated due to the process of getting there, but that makes it all the more interesting. Snorkeling is also great around here because of all of the rocky formations. On that note, keep in mind that the sand on Red Beach is not of the typical smooth variety, but it’s manageable, with lots of lounge chairs available across the beach.
~Enjoy!

Didn’t quite make it to the red beach on my two day adventure in Santorini last fall. Guess I’ll have to go back! 😉
