Cannot believe we are already half way through January of 2016 and football season is coming to an end so soon! With all the football activity happening over the next three weeks, I’ve been getting ready for the numerous viewing parties and general debauchery of end of the season by brainstorming new and creative ways to impress my guests.
One of the fun trends I’ve seen over the past few years, is the building of snack stadiums for football parties. The task has always seemed a little daunting to me, but I finally decided this year to attempt one on my own in preparation for the Big Game, and the equally important ones leading up to it!
Of course, I had to first go shopping at Walmart and find my ingredients!
A balance of sweet and salty is a must for me with any game day prep.
In the end, I came up what I think is a pretty perfect list of ingredients for my own snack stadium:
- (1) SNICKERS® FUN SIZE® Variety 35 oz.
- (2) Skittles® XL 41 oz. bags
- (2) Pepsi™ 12 oz. 12 packs
- (2) Diet Pepsi™ 12 oz. 12 packs
- (1) TOSTITOS® Original Party Size Bag
- (1) TOSTITOS® Medium Chunky Salsa
- (1) TOSTITOS® Creamy Spinach Dip
- Clementines
- Home made guacamole and bean dip
Assembly of Snack Stadium
Putting together the snack stadium was the true tricky part. I tried a couple of different formations, and then decided to use the Pepsi™ cans as the base (on the outside, for easiest access for my guests). I purchased an aluminum tray while shopping for the above edible ingredients, and filling it with guacamole and beans (for the playing field and for the side lines) seemed like a natural choice to create the floor of my snack stadium (I also loved the addition of the colors to the stadium). The key to a good snack stadium, as I’ve realized, is items at different height levels to give the feel of a true football stadium. Finding household objects to do that took a little bit longer. I used storage containers, plastic trays and aluminum pans I had previously purchased for parties to add depth and height to the snack stadium. I also purchased football themed cups from a local party store for a final touch of football flair!
My favorite part of putting together my snack stadium was putting entire 41 oz. bags of Skittles® into jars. I felt like a kid in a candy store!
The finished product. What do you guys think?
