Have any of you ever taken part in a podcast? I listen to them regularly (I mean, who hasn’t listened to Serial??) but I’ve never even thought about making one myself! Well, that all changed this past weekend, when a fellow blogger, Diane of Snapshot Fashion, reached out to me to be interviewed for her recently launched fashion podcast series.
I have to admit, what I envisioned in my mind as a very technical, equipment-filled experience (think microphones, speakers, laptop, etc.), was actually as simple as downloading an app onto a cell phone and hitting the record button! The experience flew by, but it was so much fun! I can see why people get addicted to making podcasts. They are an easy way for anyone to make their voice heard, without the formality of going on-air for a radio show.
Apart from the general fashion focus of her fashion podcast, Diane wanted to hear my opinions on fashion in the context of my world travels. With that introductory knowledge we set a date to record. I had no idea what questions were going to be asked by Diane until we actually met in person on Saturday. For someone who likes to be well-prepared for presentations in the corporate world, not being able to prepare for the fashion podcast was a bit nerve-wracking! But, I totally respect Diane’s process, her rationale for that being that it makes for the most authentic and true podcast interview to hear the questions for the first time during the interview. We sat down to discuss our blogs for a bit before we actually started rolling on the podcast, and once we did start, we shot the entire interview in one take on Diane’s phone. That was it!
I’m so curious to hear your thoughts on the finished product. The podcast lasts a quick 10 minutes, perfect for a subway or car ride on the way to or from work. Hope you all enjoy! XOXO
P.S. We had a little fun with Boomerang after our interview, check it out below!
