Nashville! Home of country music, the city where Taylor Swift became a household name and the place where Oprah Winfrey found her calling. Nashville is an exciting city right now, melding it’s rich history of country music and southern traditions with popular culture and revitalization of the city. Food, line dancing a bustling main street and plenty of country music make Nashville a must see. Only in Nashville will you find Broadway, the Main Street of downtown, full of live music bars.
To Do in Nashville
The Grand Ole Opry: Home to a number of famous country music performers across the years, a gorgeous venue and iconic of country music.
Broadway/Honky-Tonks: A street full of live music venues or “honkey-tonks”, and is the heart of the downtown area. Popular honkey-tonks here are Tootsie’s, Tin Roof and Honkey Tonk Central (three floors with different performers on each floor!)
Tip: if you are trying to get into a Honky-Tonk at night, there are entrances in the back to a number of them with much shorter lines than the lines on Broadway.
Line Dancing: You can’t come to Nashville and not go line dancing! Check out the huge venue of Wild Horse Saloon for an unforgettable experience.
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum: For the true country music lover, you have to stop here to see artifacts, videos and more devoted to country music.
J Percy Priest Reservoir: This lake is a popular place to be during nice weather, and boating is a popular activity in Nashville. If you care to be a bit more social while boating, head over to Party Cove, where a number of boats congregate to relax, listen to music and, well, party!
Pinewood Social: With a huge outdoor lawn/patio, a pool and a bowling alley, you could spend all day at Pinewood Social. It isn’t in the main downtown area, but is right across the river, and has the feel of a NYC transplant. Overall, very nice and lots of fun!

Party bike tours: There are a number of these, and Nashville is a very popular bachelorette location, so you will see these bikes all day riding up and down Broadway. A few popular ones are Nashville Pedal Tavern and Sprocket Rocket.
Barber Shop (Oprah Winfrey fans): Oprah’s father still lives in Nashville and you can visit his barber shop at any time, located in East Nashville, an up and coming part of the city with its own unique personality.
Dining in Nashville
BBQ: Bacon and Caviar and Jack’s Bar-B-Que on Broadway are great options for true Nashville BBQ.
Husk: A charming fine dining establishment built in a huge house. Husk has a great private dining room for big groups that is in a completely different area behind the main house. Husk touts creative southern inspired food, and it is SO good.
Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant: Southern food at its best, especially for brunch!
