Hello lovelies! I cannot believe we have already entered December of 2017! Given that we had some summer weather until November here in NYC, and then I spent Thanksgiving in L.A. where it was 90 degrees out when I landed at LAX, December (and winter weather) came at me with bang!
I’ve always had trouble with winter travel. Given the unpredictability of snow storms on the east coast, in past years when I’ve tried to travel in the dead of winter, more often than not my flights have been canceled. So I’m always a little hesitant to book winter travel. On the flip side, there are so many travel deals after December! For those of you that don’t know, January and February are rampant with flight and hotel deals because they are the least traveled months in the US, with most people having taken trips in November and December. People are lying low in the colder temps of January and February!
The other temptation for winter travel is all of the deals on new travel luggage. There are so many fun new products coming out and holiday sales galore! I’ve been in desperate need for some new travel luggage myself, so I was really excited when I was sent an awesome spinner suitcase from Ricardo Beverly Hills to test out. I live on spinner suitcases and carry-on bags. When you are a frequent traveler, it just makes sense to buy bags that have wheels and can make 360 turns, ya know what I mean?
I received my San Marco 29-inch Spinner Upright and was immediately impressed. The color of the suitcase is a rich and royal purple – I think it’s important to have a colorful bag that’s easy to identify and distinguish from the assortment of black bags that come out on a conveyor belt when traveling for easy recognition. The suitcase also has a built in lock and is light weight, two additional key features for frequent travelers. I can’t stand heavy suitcases that are a pain to carry around when taking public transportation, etc.
Though my Ricardo suitcase was nice to look at, and had great functionality, I still needed to put it to the test during a trip. My trip to CA for Thanksgiving was the perfect occasion. Could my new suitcase stand the test of a long domestic flight? Luckily, it did! The suitcase is great quality and was still looking pretty brand new after a long flight to CA. I would definitely buy a Ricardo suitcase in the future. I’m actually currently crushing on their new Spectrum design.
One year, I had a flight out of NY heading to the Dominican Republic on Presidents’ Day weekend, and I was so desperate to beat a snow storm, that I rented a car from NY to drive down to Washington D.C. and try and beat the storm. I was tracking the weather the entire drive down, and had heard flights hadn’t been canceled out of Washington D.C. yet. 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C., I found out that all flights had been canceled from there as well 🙁 But I can’t beat that itch! This year, I’m thinking of heading to Austin, Texas during Presidents’ Day weekend, so at least I won’t be traveling internationally. I’m hoping that will improve my odds of making it to my destination without headache.
So, on the question of whether to travel or not, I say DO IT! The deals are just too good to pass up! Happy travels! XOXO
