Three day weekend, hurrah!! As usual, I’ve been at home for two weeks and been infected with the travel bug again. So, this weekend I’m headed to Portland, Oregon, for a girls’ weekend getaway and many a girls night out with my best friends from college. We have brewery hopping, vineyard visits and tons of delicious eating on our agenda for what looks to be a rainy weekend in the northwest. I haven’t been to Portland since I was a child, so I’m especially excited to experience all of these grown up things I’ve heard are wonderful about Portland.
Since I’m flying from the east coast with a 6 hour flight ahead of me, and all of my friends are flying from CA with a short 2 hour flight, I’ll be getting in the latest of everyone. In anticipation of the rush that will ensue to get ready to go out for a girls night out in Portland, I’ve already pre-packed my purse for the night with most of the essentials.
I thought it would be fun to share with you all some of my favorite girls night out items!
Lipstick: Although I apply heavily before I head out, lipstick is the one item of makeup that I have to keep on reapplying once I’m at a bar or a restaurant. All the eating and drinking doesn’t help with lipstick lasting the entire night (despite what brands like to advertise!) My current obsession is this Sephora Rouge Creme Lipstick called “Call girl” (what a name! But I have to admit, it’s a sexy shade!)
Texturing hair spray: Y’all know I love to change up my hair styles, from straight to curly to wavy, on a regular basis. I love having a travel-sized refreshing spray on hand, in case I feel my styling coming undone, especially when I’ve been on the dance floor and (let’s face it) you get a little hot and sticky. Drybar ‘Triple Sec’ Hair Spray does the trick without making my hair feel too “crunchy”, if you know what I mean!
Odor Remover: Again, for when I’ve been out all night dancing, or just generally in a small, crowded area (especially where there are smokers), I like to carry around an odor remover to make sure I, and anyone else around me, is not giving off any unpleasant aromas. What I love about Squelch’s Smell Remover is that it’s natural and fragrance free, so no one even knows I’ve sprayed a little on or in the room and it’s totally harmless!
Jewelry: Keeping my selected jewelry ready to go in my purse just makes my getting ready process a little bit faster when I reach my hotel room, and then I don’t have to worry about picking something out on the spot while rushing out the door. Plus, I can just put these super cute earrings on while in a cab heading to my destination.
Clutch: The last and final item included in my night out items is the fun purse itself that is carrying all of these essentials! It’s a sparkly clutch, easy to carry around, wraps around my wrist, and automatically adds a dash of sparkle to my outfit. This cutie was purchased at the Kate Spade Outlet, where I got a crazy good deal on it, and it’s been a go-to for me ever since.
Floss/Wisp: In case I get any food stuck in my teeth while chowing down on the delicious food of Portland and elsewhere, I always carry around with me either dental floss or disposable tooth brushes. It’s been a lifesaver on multiple occasions, not to mention, its a great way to maintain healthy teeth and gums!
