Hello lovelies! I was sent three flavors of Kaya Sparkling Water to try and review a little while ago, and I finally had a chance to sit down and try them out. The name “Kaya” is derived from the word kayachikitsa, one of the 8 components of Ayurvedic medicine that deals with various purification and detoxification methods. The overall focus of this “sparkling water”, as it’s called, is the use of all-natural ingredients, with no preservatives or artificial sweeteners. The end result tastes like a healthier, cleaner, low-calorie alternative to juice. Agave nectar is used to sweeten the drinks, which adds a light sweetness that isn’t overwhelming. The natural sweetener also results in each bottled drink being only between 40-45 calories per bottle, for the powerful flavor it packs, without any strange after-taste the way other light/diet juices and beverages have.
The three flavors currently available are Lemon Lime (which has ginger), Pomberry (a mix of pomegranate and blueberry) and Tropical (Pineapple, Mango and Passionfruit). Of the three, Lemon Lime is the flavor I would buy over and over again, although the other two are good as well. The touch of ginger to the Lemon Lime flavor is unique and creates a really refreshing taste. Each flavor also has its own unique healthy properties, based on the natural ingredients it contains (for example, the ginger in the Lemon Lime helps with digestion and immunity).
Overall, I’m a big fan of the drinks, and Kaya has definitely created a follower in me. The only con I have, however, is that the beverages are not readily available for purchase in all general stores. From the website, it appears that you can buy cases on its website, or you can purchase at other locations in person by using the store locator on Kaya’s website. For me, most of the locations in NYC are at GNCs. I can’t wait until this product is readily available at all grocery stores and other retailers nationwide!
