1. Istanbul – The city on two continents with incredible history and culture. Don’t forget to stock up on spices before you leave.
2. Cappadocia – Incredible natural beauty of rock formations (in particular, fairy chimneys). Also, can’t miss the hot air balloon ride (despite the 5am call time)!
3. Ephesus – Contains the Temple of Artemis (of Greek origin) and is one of the most popular tourist cities in Turkey.
4. Pamukkale – Hot springs and striking travertines are well worth the trek, more info here.
5. Bodrum (or Marmaris or any other beach town!) – After visiting all of the above, you will want to relax. Get some sun in or spend a night out on the town. Or, continue the adventure and venture from one of these ports onwards to Greece (a short boat ride away from Bodrum).
